September starts a little bumpy thanks to the recent eclipses and all the angst and revelation that goes along with that. Eclipse season officially closes on the next New Moon (September 10th, in Virgo). Virgo does bring us some grounded energy to help us get things back in order that may have recently been disrupted. And the Hierophant is here to be sure we are staying true to our values and applying the spiritual lessons that are needed.
The Hierophant is a Major Arcana card that confronts us with our belief systems, in order to question whether are still in alignment with our current station in life. Things may be called into question, and things flipped upside down. If nothing makes sense anymore, the Hierophant asks us to question authority, question our conditioning, question whether what we’ve always believed still rings true.
It’s interesting that this card shows up during Virgo season, which is the zodiac sign also related to structure and order. So expect September to be a time where you really need to buckle down on projects and get organized. I’m always surprised that the Hierophant is associated with Venus in Taurus, because to me it carries the energy of Saturn— a bit more strict and karmic in nature. Nevertheless, there is an emphasis on values: how we relate to them and how we uphold them with the decisions we make.
So this month, you may be tested in some way as to whether you are staying true to the values you hold dear, or whether they are being challenged for you to step in and protect them. Be especially aware of spiritual messages you receive AND spiritual messaging from others. Where can you bring your own experience, understanding and wisdom forward in order to forge your own path, rather than be directed by others? There might be a flash of rebel energy here and there, but just be sure to keep a level head this month and not be too hasty or careless with decisions or resources.
