Through the foundations of traditional Japanese Reiki, bring self-healing into your life and those you care about, through meditative practices and hands-on techniques. This Shoden Level I Reiki course is especially designed for anyone looking to add Reiki as a self-practice for balanced wellness, stress & anxiety relief, as well as personal health & development. It can also be very beneficial for those who wish to deepen their current practice of Reiki with a cultural emphasis on its traditional Japanese roots and a more connected personal relationship with Reiki.
USUI REIKI RYOHO: SHODEN - LEVEL I REIKI
In this 6-week Shoden Level 1 Reiki course, you will learn about the history of the founding of Reiki, how the practice is influenced by Shingon Buddhist traditions, and its historical context as it made its way to the Western world. Learn & practice fundamental techniques that focus the mind, breath, and body. Discover ways to tune inward, connecting to your inner light and gaining a deeper understanding of the interconnectedness amongst everything in the universe-- a central concept of Buddhist traditions and the system of Reiki from its Japanese origins. Explore hands-on healing techniques to ease stress, pain, and emotional discomfort. Learn to weave these skills to into your everyday life, tapping into the Reiki energy that already exists within you.
The intention of this course is focused on building a personal relationship with Reiki, inviting the system as a supportive lifestyle and life-affirming personal practice. By living a life that is rooted in Reiki, we can honor our own self- healing journey and connect to the light that is already within us, waiting to shine even brighter in our lives.

Course schedule includes FIVE in-person Sunday classes (3 hrs. each, in West Salem), plus SIX online study-support meetings on Thursday evenings (1 hr. each, on Zoom).
There will be a Closing Ceremony & Celebration to receive certificates and a reiju (spiritual blessing) on October 25th.

meet your Reiki instructor
Nadine Schmidt, reiki master practitioner
Hello! My name is Nadine, and I am a certified Usui Reiki Ryoho/Holy Fire® III Reiki Master Practitioner.
I began my initial training in Reiki back in 2021, becoming certified in Usui Reiki Ryoho. Later, I completed my certification of Level III/Reiki Master training in Usui/Holy Fire® III Reiki. I am also trained in trauma-informed Reiki practices, and certified in ICRT® Animal Reiki Level II and the Let Animals Lead® Method of Animal Reiki (Level III Practitioner). Last year I completed a 9-month training program for Usui Reiki Ryoho Levels I-III from the perspective of its traditional Japanese roots. I am currently expanding my practice through a 9-month Teaching Apprenticeship, in order to bring Reiki to even more people.
I absolutely love sharing the wonderful healing benefits of Reiki with both humans and animals alike. I truly believe as each of us take the steps needed to heal ourselves, that healing expands & radiates out to others. I would love the honor of showing you how Reiki can help you heal yourself and those you love.
